Women taking a stand_

September 2020

For 26 years, Belarus has been under the rule of President Alexander Lukashenko. Earlier, Lukashenko was quoted saying, "Our constitution is not for women." Before the election in Belarus, Lukashenko arrested his opponents to ensure he'd continue his reign and has been accused of rigging the results.

Belarusian women took matters into their own hands–three women stood in solidarity together and led protests against violence in Belarus. Following their brave efforts, thousands of women in white descended on the Belarusian parliament to show their support for the movement.

We are witnessing women fighting for their country–taking a stand against injustice and violence.
